About

Beyoncé is a 24-time GRAMMY Award-winning American singer and one of the world’s bestselling music artists. The global superstar began her music career with Destiny’s Child, earning three GRAMMY Awards, before debuting as a solo artist in 2003. Beyoncé is the most nominated female artist in GRAMMY history, and has sold over 100 million records worldwide.

The latest music released by Beyoncé is her soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, curated for the photorealistic remake of Disney classic The Lion King, released in July 2019. The 14-track album features Beyoncé’s vocals on all but four songs, with Beyoncé also voicing the character Nala in the film. Featuring fellow artists Donald Glover, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z, the single Spirit also received GRAMMY and OSCAR nominations.

Beyoncé also directed and appeared in her Netflix concert film Homecoming in 2019, which included her historic performance on-stage at Coachella festival in 2018. Homecoming: The Live Album followed shortly after the documentary’s release.

History

Born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles in 1981 in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé first rose to fame in the late 1990s. Beyoncé began her music career as the lead singer of RnB girl group Destiny’s Child with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. The trio scored four Billboard No. 1 hits, with Say My Name, Independant Woman Part 1, Bills, Bills, Bills and Bootylicious, and also peaked at No.2 for Survivor in 2001.

Beyoncé began performing as a solo artist from 2003 onwards. Her debut studio album Dangerously In Love kicked off a phenomenally successful solo career. The album and lead singles Crazy In Love and Baby Boy all reached No.1 on the US Billboard charts.

B-Day followed in 2006, marking Beyoncé’s first video album and was released on the singer’s 25th birthday. I Am… Sasha Fierce came two years later and earned six GRAMMYs, while including smash hit songs Halo, If I Were a Boy, Sweet Dreams and Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it). Beyoncé named Sasha Fierce as her on-stage alter ego at the time.

Run The World (Girls), Love On Top, and The Best Thing I Never Had ensured a strong fourth studio album, 4, in 2011. The self-titled Beyoncé album was released in 2013. The eponymous record included lead singles XO and the platinum hit Drunk In Love

Beyoncé’s latest and sixth studio album Lemonade is certified three times Platinum and received nine GRAMMY nominations. The 2016 concept album included collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and the Dixie Chicks, along with chart topping hit Formation, which Beyoncé first performed live at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. The Formation World Tour marked Beyoncé’s seventh concert tour with a whopping 49 stadium shows across the world.

With a massive 35-track setlist, the shows were visually and musically stunning complete with a 26-person orchestra.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé also unveiled their much-anticipated joint studio album, Everything Is Love, credited under the name The Carters in 2018. The powerful pair first hit the road together in 2014 with their On The Run Tour, following Beyoncé’s solo The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour and Jay-Z's Magna Carter World Tour between 2013 and 2014.
