We're sorry, but we couldn’t find any events
Cowboys and Heroes: Americana and Country Music Festival is returning to Drumcoura City, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim this June Bank Holiday weekend. This will be the 3rd year for this festival which has gone from strength to strength. Last year’s festival was featured on RTE as part of the Stetsons and Stilettos series which is also to be broadcasted on BBC Northern Ireland. It has also won an award for ‘Best Irish Festival 2015’ from the Business Excellence Awards. Our charity of choice for 2016 is the Ronald McDonald House and we will be fund raising all weekend for this amazing cause.
So what exactly is Cowboys and Heroes? The first thing that singles this festival out is its location; Drumcoura City, which is a western themed resort sitting on the beautiful Drumcoura lake shore in south County Leitrim. The resort boasts a 24,000 sq. ft. indoor arena, two outdoor arenas, an equestrian centre specialising in western horse riding, horse riding trails, an archery range, an outdoor tennis court and on site log cabins. All of this combines to make it the perfect location for an Americana and Country themed festival.
On the weekend of the festival the indoor arena is transformed into the biggest concert venue in the region, with a 2500 square foot dance floor, full festival stage and lighting, 4 wild western themed bars and more cowboys and cowgirls than you are likely to see in one place this side of Texas. The large yard beside the arena will be full to the brim with food, clothing and memorabilia vendors all with an American theme. You will see Gun Slingers, Can Can Girls, Swing Dancers, Jive Dancers and Line dancers all mingling among the crowd and doing pop up performances at various points throughout the weekend. If all that wasn’t colourful enough there is also an American Classic Car Show, Western Horse Shows, American Wrestling and a Funfair all combining to create a carnival atmosphere unlike anything you have seen.
Of course the main feature of Cowboys and Heroes is the music, which takes place primarily on the main stage in the indoor arena, with a smaller stage in the saloon bar. This year’s line up has: Nathan Carter, Derek Ryan, Mike Denver, Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell, Lisa McHugh, Johnny Brady, Philomena Begley, Jim Devine, Ritchie Remo, Cash Returns, David James, Eamonn Jackson, Lou Rosgen from Virginia and Keegan McInroe from Texas with many more to be added.
Weekend Tickets are priced at an unbeatable €60 per person and are available now. – Day tickets are available on the day at the gate at €25 p.p.
