About
LYVIA is part of Ticketmaster New Music Breakthrough 2025 – our pick of the hottest new artists you must see live in 2025
Having captivated audiences as a contestant on Season 13 of The Voice UK, 23-year-old LYVIA has been making waves with her simple yet heartfelt songwriting and unfiltered approach to storytelling.
Hailing from Nottingham, Olivia Mason (AKA LYVIA) is known for her relatable lyrics cataloging her personal experiences in life and love, whilst blending indie, pop and rap influences. Honing her music and performance from the age of 17, LYVIA began posting videos of herself singing online and busking on the streets with a cup of tea in hand, often travelling to different cities to get out of her comfort zone.
Whilst studying music at Nottingham Trent University, she was approached by the casting team for The Voice UK. After passing through rigorous pre-filming audition stages, LYVIA made it to the studio to perform ‘Killing Me Softly’ by Roberta Flack. Letting her expressive voice and raw talent shine through, LYVIA included a verse of her own spoken word poetry. Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, will.i.am and Tom Jones all turned around at the televised blind audition, with Anne-Marie going on to mentor LYVIA all the way through to the quarter-finals.
Since the show aired in 2022, LYVIA has continued to amass a loyal following with whom her honest approach to songwriting resonates. Using social platforms such as TikTok, LYVIA’s videos have struck a chord with fans all over the world, many of whom can relate to LYVIA’s experiences as a proud and outspoken member of the LGBTQIA+ community. True to her roots, several of her viral videos hark back to LYVIA’s busking days; shot on the streets of Nottingham, armed with a microphone and a cuppa.
In 2023, LYVIA released her hit single ‘Trippin’. Evoking her ever-relatable experiences of falling for someone and willingness to be vulnerable, the track puts LYVIA’s honeyed vocals and sincere spoken word poetry at the fore. Currently sitting at over five million streams on Spotify, the track proved ripe for the TikTok audience too, spawning a slew of viral videos. It appeared again on LYVIA’s 2024 single ‘Homesick’, of which the titular track found similar resonance with its audience. ‘Homesick’ is a poignant song about feeling homesick for a person, rather than a place. In LYVIA’s accompanying music video, she visits various people and places who feel like ‘home’ to her, from LYVIA’s friend and her nana, to the familiar street corner where she films her videos.
LYVIA’s debut EP, Maid Marian Way, followed in 2024. Featuring tracks ‘Rock With Me’, ‘Obsessed (Stay)’ and ‘Bounce’, among other previously released songs, the EP has served to cement LYVIA as an artist to watch. Soon after its release, LYVIA embarked on her Rock With Me tour, marking her first headline shows with three intimate dates across Manchester, London, and her hometown of Nottingham.
