About

Alternative R&B, lo-fi hip-hop and dancehall influences are all welcome in this house party

Even when brushing shoulders with hip-hop and R&B's biggest names, from Rihanna to Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR strove to carve out a name of his own.

PARTYNEXTDOOR began when Brathwaite was 18, signing a publishing deal with Warner/Chapell as a writer after impressing with his previous R&B project Jahron B. He released his self-titled debut mixtape in 2013 on Drake's OVO Sound, making him one of the now ubiquitous label's first signings. Drake featured on the track 'Over Here', and later that year Braithwaite returned the favour by featuring on Nothing Was The Same, but it is the Miguel-sampled cut 'Break From Toronto' that has become one of his biggest fan favourites.

In 2014 more eyes were one Brathwaite, and his debut album PartyNextDoor 2 arrived with more fanfare. Featuring the singles 'Her Way' and 'Recognize' (also featuring Drake), the album debuted at the top of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and would go on to reach gold certification. Riding on the wave of success, he released the EP PNDColours in December of that year.

As the hype behind him as a performer continued to snowball, Brathwaite continued to work with others in the studio, producing songs such as 'Preach' for Drake and writing 'Work' for Rihanna; the latter became his first No.1 hit as a songwriter. But in August 2016 he released his second studio album PartyNextDoor 3, which featured the slick tracks 'Not Nice', 'Joy' and the Grammy-nominated slow jam 'Come and See Me'.

Partymobile, Brathwaite's third studio album, was released in 2020 and featured his biggest solo hit, the easy-going, dancehall-influenced 'Loyal'. The album also included 'Believe It', featuring Rihanna, as well as the cinematic 'Savage Anthem'. True to form, later that year he also released the seven-track EP Partypack, and in 2021 re-released the EP Colours.

After a couple of years laying low, except perhaps for the viral sped-up version of 'Her Way' on TikTok, in April 2024 Brathwaite released his next album PartyNextDoor 4. Lead by singles 'Her Old Friends', 'Resentment' and 'Real Woman', the record is his first to feature no guest appearances.

In May 2024, PARTYNEXTDOOR announced an Irish date for October as part of a European tour in support of the latest album.
