Bicentenary Gala Celebration
Friday, 30th September, 2016
To mark the RHSI’s two hundred year contribution to horticulture, arboriculture and floral art in Ireland, the Bicentenary Committee has put together what will be an exciting and varied all day/evening event. This will be the high point of all the Bicentenary celebrations that have taken place throughout 2016.
Date: Friday, 30th September , 2016, our Gala Celebration will held in the RDS Concert Hall, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. (Anglesea Road Entrance).
The programme is as follows;
11.00am Jenny Murphy – Celebration Floral Art Demonstration.
Jenny won Florist of the Year and was awarded a Gold Medal for her chandelier creation at the Chelsea Flower Show 2012 and was named Irish Interflora Florist of the Year in 2011.
2.00pm. Dan Hinkley ‘From Shadow to Sun – Making Windcliff’
Plant explorer and collector, recipient of numerous awards, author of several books, stimulating lecturer, talented plant breeder and nurseryman, Dan created his garden at Windcliff, with views of Mount Rainier, the Seattle city skyline and the Pacific Ocean.
3.30pm. Roy Lancaster, CBE ‘A Life of Plants’
A renowned plantsman, gardener, broadcaster and author of numerous books Roy spent eighteen years with Hillier’s Nurseries. For ten of those years he was curator of the Hillier Arboretum. His own garden in Hampshire is full of challenges and surprises and is a source of stories to share with those who love to garden.
7.30pm. Monty Don ‘Gardens of Europe’
Millions of viewers watch BBC’s ‘Gardeners’ World’ and tune into ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ for Monty’s inspiration and guidance. A gardener and garden writer, Monty has gone ‘Around the World in 80 Gardens’ and has travelled Europe with particular focus on French and Italian gardens. His latest BBC series ‘Big Dreams, Small Spaces’ helps the garden owners and viewers with little horticultural knowledge create an interest in gardening
