Tinashe announces Irish date for the Match My Freak World Tour

After making the transition from child star to multi-platinum artist, ‘Nasty’ singer Tinashe has found her niche for experimental beats and sultry vocals that have taken the world by storm.

Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe, known simply as Tinashe, is a Los Angeles-raised hyphenate revered for her genre-blending artistry spanning R&B, hip-hop, pop and electronic music. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, her family soon moved to LA, where the American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress and dancer began her career. Getting a foot in the entertainment industry at a young age, Tinashe appeared in numerous TV shows and films throughout her childhood and beyond.

In 2007, Tinashe joined girl group The Stunners, formed by singer-songwriter Vitamin C. Six months in, The Stunners signed with Columbia Records and confirmed a production deal with Lionsgate Entertainment for an MTV scripted television show. During this time, the group supported Justin Bieber on his My World Tour, before ultimately disbanding in 2011. After leaving The Stunners, Tinashe bought her own equipment, including cameras and microphones in an earnest attempt to not only teach herself how to record and mix music, but also to produce her own music videos. This marked the beginning of her solo career and formative efforts to craft her signature sound: a fusion of contemporary R&B influences with experimental beats, layered with Tinashe’s distinctly seductive vocals.

In Case We Die and Reverie, Tinashe’s first two critically acclaimed mixtapes were independently released in 2012, leading to her signing with RCA. Her debut studio album Aquarius followed in 2014 and received widespread critical acclaim for its creative production, with Pitchfork dubbing the effort, “an anomaly in an age of major label standardization: a debut done unmistakably on Tinashe’s own terms." The album’s lead single ‘2 On’, featuring rapper ScHoolboy Q, became a chart-topping hit which was later remixed by Drake. Elsewhere on Aquarius, Tinashe collaborated on tracks with A$AP Rocky, Devonté Hynes and Future, further solidifying her as an in demand up-and-coming artist in the R&B world.

Soon after, in the summer of 2015, Tinashe joined Nicki Minaj for the US leg of The Pinkprint Tour, before being invited to supper Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour. This gave Tinashe the platform to not only hone her dynamic stage presence, but also flex her abilities as an accomplished dancer and choreographer. With press opportunities abound that same year, Tinashe featured in a Vogue fashion spread and a cover feature in Dazed magazine. These opportunities served to affirm Tinashe’s visual artistic reputation, as well as sonic.

Tinashe’s second studio album, Nightride, arrived in 2016 and was described by Rolling Stone as “dark, alluring and dangerous.” Meanwhile, follow-up album Joyride (2018) was subject to delays, and upon its release, wasn’t met with the praise of her previous efforts. This led to Tinashe parting ways with RCA in 2019 and embracing independence once again. Going back to her roots, her next albums Songs for You (2019) and 333 (2021) were released independently, and signified a reconciliation with her more alternative approach to music.

As part of an as yet uncompleted three-album trilogy, BB/ANG3L was released in 2023, shortly followed by Quantum Baby in 2024. The latter famously features lead single ‘Nasty’, which enjoyed viral success after sparking a TikTok dance trend and reaching number one on the US Rhythmic Radio Chart, marking her second No.1.

In October 2024, Tinashe announced the London date for her Match My Freak World Tour, performing at 3Olympia Theatre on 25 February 2025.
