About
Gregory Porter is an American singer, songwriter and actor. His debut album, 'Water', was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal album at the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards and his second album, 'Be Good', garnered critical acclaim for both his distinctive singing and his compositions, such as 'Be Good (Lion's Song)', 'Real Good Hands', and 'On My Way to Harlem'. The New York Times has described Porter as "a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift".
He won the GRAMMY Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2014 for 'Liquid Spirit' and again in 2017 for 'Take Me to the Alley'.
In the best possible way, Christmas comes early this year. Presenting, with his customary class, elegance and sophistication, Gregory Porter’s 'Christmas Wish' – a cool yule selection of festive favorites as well as brand new songs written by the man himself.
Backed by his long-time band, produced by repeat collaborator Troy Miller in New York and London, with orchestral contributions recorded at Abbey Road, and featuring a powerhouse guest vocal from GRAMMY-winning singer Samara Joy, the jazzman’s seventh album is his loving tribute to his favorite time of year – and to great songwriters, singers and interpreters including Sammy Cahn, Frank Loesser, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. Across its dozen tracks, 'Christmas Wish' encompasses the saintly and the secular, the funky and the fun, the Great American Songbook and the best of Motown.
